Biography:
Dilip Gaonkar (PhD Pittsburgh), Associate Professor. Teaches courses in rhetorical theory and cultural studies. Co-Director of the Center for Transcultural Studies, a Chicago-based international network of scholars and cultural practitioners. Associate editor of Public Culture. Main research interests: rhetoric and the human sciences; the relationship between rhetoric and literary/cultural theory; and, globalization of culture and communication. Selected publications: (ed. with Cary Nelson) Disciplinarity and Dissent in Cultural Studies (Routledge, 1996); "The Idea of Rhetoric in the Rhetoric of Science" in Rhetorical Hermeneutics (ed. Alan Gross and William Keith, SUNY Press, 1996).
