Graduate Programs

Theatre - Master of Arts

The master of arts in theatre is a general degree intended to provide the developing scholar or theatre specialist with an opportunity to strengthen skills and knowledge beyond the undergraduate level. The program is flexible and builds on the belief that advanced study in theatre requires concentrated experience in both theory and practice in a curriculum that combines exposure to exemplary scholars with an intensive production season. MA students typically pursue a variety of goals: increasing specific theatrical skills; extending theatre skills into new areas, such as child drama or playwriting; or, in the case of educators, expanding their expertise and credentials. Numbered among those who have earned the MA are prominent actors, teachers, theatre managers, agents, writers, and directors of adult and children's theatre. For more information about the graduate program, please contact the Theatre Department at (847) 491-3170 or visit their website.
