Research Labs

The department's research mission is addressed through initiatives that focus on the following topics:

• Description of processes of sensation, perception, cognition, and motor control underlying communication functions
• Examination of changes through life-span development, deterioration, regeneration, and experience that impact normal and disordered human communication
• Development of assessments of and treatments for disorders of human communication
• Investigation of social, familial, and cultural issues impacting normal and disordered communication
• Exploration of the molecular and epidemiological bases of normal and disordered human communication

Projects addressing these topics are ongoing in the department's research laboratories.
