Master of Science in Communication

The Department of Communication Studies houses two professional master’s programs. Both are two-year, fixed-curriculum programs and offer working managers and professionals a choice of two tracks.

The Managerial Communication track, which is taught primarily by Communication Studies faculty. The curriculum in this track emphasizes such communication topics as team leadership, organizational problem solving, crisis communication and bargaining and negotiation. This professional degree program develops critical and strategic thinking and leadership and organizational problem solving skills for managers.

The Communication Systems Strategy and Management track, which is taught by Communication Studies as well as faculty from several other units of the university. The curriculum in this track is about two-thirds communication and managerial topics and one-third technology-related topics. This professional degree program develops strategic management skills for managers of Information Technology investment and productivity.
