Mission of the School
Our mission is to improve systems and processes used in human communication as well as people's abilities to use communication to achieve their purposes. Our key term is performance: performance is both our primary object of study and a vehicle through which we teach and learn about communication.
The School is committed to building the basic and applied sciences of communication; developing theory and critical perspectives on communicative performances; creating new technologies for communication and new modes of artistic expression; and helping students to be more effective in their work, at home, and in civic life by applying principles of communication.
