Monday through Thursday evening hours from 6pm to 9pm are for placing reservations and lab checkouts ONLY!
Saturday, Sunday
CLOSED
Any extended use or deviations from checkout/return times for equipment MUST be approved by the Equipment Manager and the course Professor.

Work Study/Temporary Employee Students Needed
We are always looking for enthusiastic production oriented students who want to work in the equipment cage in John J Louis Hall. Interested students should contact the equipment manager, Brian Perkinson. The ideal candidates will be RTVF majors who have completed the 280 sequence of course work.

Rules & Regulations

For all of the current rules please see the Department of Radio/Television/Film's "PRODUCTION HANDBOOK".

Equipment Reservations:
Reservations for all RTVF class production equipment must be made in person at the equipment cage in the John J. Louis Hall Studio Building (Room 125). The reservation book will contain equipment needed for specific classes.

DURING REGULAR ACADEMIC QUARTERS:
Faculty and TA use of equipment for courses and/or labs taught at Northwestern University have priority over any equipment reservations or usage. Every effort will be made by faculty and TA's to schedule equiupment in advance.
First Priority:
During the academic quarters, undergraduates and graduate students enrolled in the School of Speech RTVF production courses (including independent studies) doing work for those production courses during the specified quarter have first priority usage.
  • First Priority students have reservation priveleges for equipment and facilities on a first come first served basis.
  • First Priority equipment and facilities reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance of the usage date and no more than 30 days in advance of equipment usage date.
  • First Priority students may only have access to equipment and facilities which are appropriate to the production course in which they are enrolled.
Second Priority:
Students finishing an incomplete, Ph. D., M.F.A., or M.A. graduate students not in production courses but qualified for production equipment and facility use and RTVF faculty have second priority access.
  • Second priority students have advance reservation priveleges for equipment and facilities for the first 5 weeks of any academic quarter ONLY. (with a 24 hour minimum/30 day maximum advance reservation)
  • Second priority students are limited to 24 hour advanced reservation on any equipment or facilities during the last 5 weeks of any quarter.
  • Second priority students may only have access to equipment and facilities which are appropriate to their level of completed course work.
Term Breaks and Summer Session
Access to equipment during term breaks and summer session is limited to full time faculty, MFA students and students enrolled in summer production courses. Any other students working on sponsered projects for which they have primary creative control must have written approval from their advisor and the Head of Production for equipment access.
